The Degree Course

Explore how to bring a brand to market. Develop skills to create your own design signature which will be showcased in your final year catwalk collection. You’ll hone your craft in purpose-built state-of-the-art studios and design technology.

The core focus of the course is technical and making skills. Develop your own design philosophy and identity through drawing, styling, 2D design, 3D drape and pattern design, research, cutting and garment construction. This is underpinned by theoretical and contemporary influences with particular emphasis on sustainability in fashion.

In your second year, you can focus on men’s or women’s wear with the option to develop surface pattern in your designs. In your third year, you will focus on research and developing your own collection for your end of year catwalk show. We have active links to the fashion design and manufacturing industry both locally and nationally such as Superdry and Emma Willis. You will develop skills that will embrace and encompass creative and critical thinking, through to concept origination and experiential development, and the development and maintenance of higher level skills synonymous with British fashion design.
